LAKE PICHOLA
Pichola Lake is a man made lake, one of the prime attractions and main lakes of udaipur, Pichola Lake is beautiful expanse of water that surrounds the islands of the Lake Palace Hotel. Pichola Lake was built by Maharana Udai Singh II. It was made basically for defence purpose. Cradled amongst hills, gardens, havelis, temples and ghats, Lake Pichola is the picturesque spotlight of Udaipur. The lake sports two islands palaces- Jagniwas (Lake Palace) and Jagmandir. The lake is about 4 km long and 3 km wide, and not much deep- it often dries up in times of severe summers. The beauty of the lake and its surroundings can only be felt by seeing it, which increases many folds during sunrise and sunset.
ATTRACTIONS
Lake Palace is a white beautiful palace of Udaipur, situated in the mid of the Lake Pichola. The lake palace was built by Maharaja Jagat Singh as his summer home. He built a masonry dam, known as the Badipol and the lake is now 4km in length and 3km wide. In the lake are two islands - Jag Niwas and Jag Mandir. Boat rides on the lake especially in the evenings are very popular.The lake palace is now a five star hotel in Udaipur. The scene of lake palace amidst lake pichola is mesmerising.
JAGMANDIR
Jagmandir was built by Maharana Karan Singh in 1622 AD and was intended to be a pleasure palace for regal parties and functions. It also served as a refuge for Mughal emperor Shah Jehan when he was a prince. The legend says that Jagmandir was the inspiration behind the world-famous Taj Mahal. Flanked by a row of enormous stone elephants, the island has an impressive chhatri carved from grey blue stone. The view across the lake to the city is a scene of rare beauty.

Boat-rides: The lake Pichola can be explored on a boat ride. A boat ride will cover all the major and minor attractions around the lake. Also the lake is so beautiful that one can enjoy the rides on a boat. One can also wander along the bathing and washing ghats by the lakeside.
FATEH SAGAR LAKE
Lake Fateh Sagar is the pride of the City of Lakes, Fateh Sagar lake is medium-sized perennial storage reservoir constructed in the year 1678 A. D. by the rulers of former Mewar State.constructed by Maharana Jai Singh but it got the name of Fateh Singh who rebuilt its dam. Fateh Sagar, the second of Udaipur's four man-made lakes.Fateh Singh is 2.4 km. long, 1.6 km. wide and 11.5 m. at its deepest point; when full, it covers an area of about 1 sq. km., being fed by the Ahar (Berach) river. It is possible to drive around the complete circumference of the lake via Moti Magri Road, Fateh Sagar Drive, and Rani Road, a serpentine route that provides beautiful views of the lake as well as the encircling Aravalli Hills. Lakes are focal point for social and economic activities of Udaipur people. Every year thousands of tourists from India and abroad come to this 'City of Lakes'. Yet this water body is facing acute shortage of water sometimes due to scanty rains.

JAISAMAND LAKE
Jaisamand Lake is also known as Dhebaris located 52km south east of Udaipur and was built by Maharaja Jai Singh in 1685., is the second biggest artificial lake of the world covering an area of 36sq km. The lake remained the largest artificial lake in the world till the building of the Aswan dam in Egypt. The statistics of the lake is really amazing – 9 miles in breadth, 102 feet deep at its deepest end, a circumference of 30 miles with marble taircases leading into the water. The summer palaces of the Queens of Udaipur surround Jaisamand Lake on all sides.
ATTRACTIONS
Jaisamand Island Resort is situated in the midst of the largest man-made lake in Asia, Jaisamand Lake, provides a panoramic view of the picturesque surroundings. On the banks of lake are elegant marble steps descending to the water and a small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The forests around Jaisamand, which once were the hunting grounds of maharanas of Mewar, have now been converted into a game sanctuary. The Jaisamand Sanctuary built in 1957 covering an area of 62sqkm welcomes a wide variety of resident and migratory birds and animals. Close to Jaisamand is the game sanctuary, which is spread over an area of about 45 kilometers & has a motor able road. The sanctuary shelters wild animals like panthers, wild bear, spotted deer, sambhars etc.
UDAI SAGAR LAKE
Udai Sagar Lake, the same size is as Rajsamand Lake, 15 km. east of Udaipur on the Berach river. Maharana Udai Singh II built this lake in 1565. Its greatest depth is 9 m.; it is 4 km. long, and 2.5 km. wide, and covers an area of 10.5 sq. km. It has a storage capacity of 23.4 mil. cu. m. The 54-m. embankment was built with stones from the bund of other lakes. Water from the lake is used in the zinc smelter at nearby Debari. Except in lean years, the lake maintains a sufficient water level.
BADI KA TALAB (JIYAN SAGAR)
Jaiyan Sagar is situated in the village of BADI built at a cost of Rs. 688,000 Lakh by Maharana RAJ SINGH I (1652-1680) He named it Jiyan Sagar after his mother Jana Devi. The lake covers an area of 155 sq. km., and has an embankment 180 m. long and 18 m. wide, which is graced by three artistic chhatris.
SWAROOP SAGAR (KUMHARIA TALAB)
Swaroop Sagar is a small man-made lake behind the Jagdish Temple and near Chand Pol adjacent to Rangsagar. It connects Pichola Lake and Fateh Sagar; built by Maharana SWAROOP SINGH (1842-1861) for the benefit of his people.
